Our Story

City Santa was founded in 2001, when a husband and wife team picked up letters to Santa from the post office, in hopes of helping a few children.

So moved by the requests for food, shoes, clothing and coats instead of toys, the following year they got their friends on board, turned their living room into Santa’s workshop, and City Santa was born.

Since then, we’ve extended our reach from post office letters to families in shelters. Over the years, we’ve helped thousands of children and needy families in and around New York City.

Then Came Covid

Covid made City Santa modify how we provide support to people in need around New York City. Many generous people want to give but don’t know where to begin. That is where we come in.

How It Works Now

Schools, businesses, or other organizations contact us with their ideas on how they can give.

Some have toy or food drives, others make stockings with socks, toothpaste and other necessities and there are those who want to purchase coats for families.

We connect organizations and volunteers, help with logistics and lend our advice and guidance from twenty plus years.

Thanks

For more than twenty years City Santa hosted an annual wrap party where volunteers came together in a space donated by a landlord and wrapped gifts for shelters and for various programs for those in need.

Now, we are working to encourage and empower volunteers to give, and even have their own wrap party!

City Santa continues to help those in need and to do random acts of kindness all year long. Your generous donations help us to keep that going. We are forever grateful.

Thank you!

City Santa is a 501C3 non-profit. All donations are tax deductible.
